Here is how to extract a table from a screenshot to Excel without retyping a single cell: drop the image onto the tables reader, it reads the grid into real rows and columns, and you download a CSV that opens straight in Excel or Sheets. The Table You Cannot Copy

It always arrives the same way. A table you need, sitting somewhere you cannot get at it. A screenshot a colleague dropped into a chat. A figure in a report that will not let you select a thing. A dashboard that shows you the numbers and offers you no way to take them. A photograph of a slide from a meeting you could not attend.

You can see every cell. You just cannot have any of them. And so you do the thing everyone does, the thing nobody admits to. You put the image up on one side of the screen and the empty spreadsheet on the other, and you start typing it across by hand, glancing back and forth, losing your place, fairly sure you have transposed two figures somewhere around the eighth row.

Capture the Table Cleanly

The better way starts with the picture. The clearer the screenshot, the cleaner the result, so it is worth half a thought before you grab it.

Capture the table on its own where you can, rather than the whole screen with the table buried in a corner. A tight, square image of just the grid reads far better than a wide shot where the figures are small. If the table is long and you have to scroll, take it in a couple of overlapping pieces rather than one cramped strip, and keep the text a comfortable size on screen before you capture. A screenshot taken at a sensible zoom holds its detail. One shrunk down to fit everything in does not.

If it is a photograph of a screen or a printed page rather than a clean screenshot, the same care that helps any image helps here. Straight on, good light, no glare bouncing off the glass and swallowing a column of numbers.

With numbers, that honesty is the whole point. You would far rather be told check this one than discover a quietly wrong figure three meetings later. You stay the one who signs off the data.

None of this is dramatic. That is rather the appeal. It is not a grand new way of working, it is the quiet removal of a small, repeated annoyance, the sort that adds up without your ever quite logging it.

The table you could see but not touch is now a table you can sort. The screenshot a colleague pasted in becomes a column you can add up. The figures off the slide are in your sheet, in the right cells, and you did not transpose two of them around the eighth row, because you did not type them at all.

Will the columns line up properly?
